NNI will receive a total of $16,500 from Dutch Culture USA for two projects related to New Netherland and its legacy. The first is an ArcGIS StoryMap—an immersive web experience that combines text, interactive maps, and other multimedia content—of Dutch-American heritage sites.
The second—a collaboration between NNI and the Archives of the Reformed Church in America in New Brunswick, NJ—will digitize and create a calendar for the manuscripts in "The Amsterdam Correspondence," a collection held by the Reformed Church Archives that consists of nearly 400 documents (approximately 1,000 page-sides), almost exclusively in the Dutch language, written in places now within the bounds of the states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania from the 1640s to the early 1800s. Keep in mind that no more than 50% of these projects are funded by Dutch Culture USA. The remainder comes from NNI's annual fund. |
